Chicago Fire 1 Columbus Crew 0 !!!

The two evenly matched squads battled each other to a scoreless draw after 86 minutes. Then a bit of dazzling midfield play found Wanchope at the top of the crew circle with the ball at his feet! The defense closed in and Hesmer left his line to cut down the angle. But Wanchope dropped the ball off to Blanco who took the angle and drove a long low ball past the over-committed Hesmer. The ball skipped, caromed off the far post and trickled over the goal line to give the Fire the go-ahead goal with only 3 minutes of regulation left to play!!

After that, the Fire's impenetrable defense ran out the clock, giving the Fire the victory, and sweet revenge!

No I'm not dreaming. I got FIFA08 for the WII for Christmas and that was the first game I played!!.

Cool Game! I saved some money and bought 08 at a steep discount, since 09 is for sale. As a result, my Fire squad features Wanchope, Matt Pickens, and Chris Armas.

I may need to take a couple weeks off just to master this game! I mean, of course you can pass and shoot, but you can also put spin on the ball, execute step overs, fake shots/passes, chip shots, lead passes, long balls, and something that is almost, but not quite, a Maradona turn.

To do this with the Wii controls, you have to move the controls through space and manipulate joysticks and buttons (often multiple points simultaneously). The end result is you look a little like an epileptic yogi master with turrets.

But 1-0 vs Columbus was worth it!!

Gotta go to bed now....stayed up until 2am......

One Hundred Twenty Three...

One hundred twenty three more days until the Fire 2009 home opener - but then, who's counting? Oh yeah, we're counting.

Today, the league announced the home openers for all the teams. Chicago plays at Dallas on March 21st, takes a week off, and then comes home to Toyota park to face RBNY and JCO.

Start chillin' the beer...
